A day in the big city
On Sunday Dad and I ventured into the city – it was great!
We got the train in, which was quite a trip down memory lane for me. We had heaps of fun checking out the doors each time they opened and playing peek-a-boo through the metal bars in the vestibule area.
I was waving goodbye to the train guard when she asked if we’d come into the city for the parade? Parade … Cool! She was even nice enough (from our perspective anyway) to hold up the whole train while she ripped out the instructions from the paper for us.
The parade wasn’t actually meant to start until 11:30am, but they were already inflating all the floats so we got to get up close and even help hold the ropes. My favourites were the leprecaun and the panda.
Other than that, we spent some time down near Circular Quay. I particularly enjoyed the Museum of Contempory Art. I would run up the ramp and then walk (without help) down the steps. There were a couple of tumbles, including one spectacular capsize landing on the top of my head, but I just kept practicing.
