Happy Lego-Day
Legoland
Instead of a party this year we thought we’d take Lachie up to LEGOLAND in Yonkers.
Lego Cities
Cool rides
3D Lego movies
An area to build Lego race cars and race them…
Rides, Lego Karaoke, Climbers and more!
…followed by an extremely yummy and relaxing (yes the tigers were shattered!) lunch at the Yardhouse. It was the closest place we could find and it was surprisingly excellent!
It was a great day 🙂
Thank goodness
Still more snow
Parting is such sweet sorrow
More whales?
For Bianca’s birthday NE+L sent on her on a day trip to see the humpback whales in Samana Bay (we chilled out by the pool in her absence!).
After co-piloting a little ten seater plane across to Samana Bay…
(and happily seeing whales out the window!)
A quick drive from the airport to the bay
She got to see the Humpnack whales and their new born babies. Not sure if it get’s any better than that in her books?
Lunch on Bacardi Island
Back to the airport
Where she got to be the co-pilot once again and through a storm on the way home (definite fun!).
xx
Spitting the dummy!
That’s it we’re spitting the dummy!
With another food of snow forecast for Wednesday we’re admitting defeat and heading off for some sun surf & sand in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Our skin is dry & sore and our moods are on edge. The kids are paler than ghosts. Eli is having cold related nose-bleeds and Lachie’s lips are blistered from the cold.
Done – we need a little injection of heat.
Addios snow & chilly weather! Hola white sand beaches and cocktails!
Sochi Inspiration
Inspired by the Sochi Winter Olympics, we’ve been doing a little experimenting of our own.
This has the relatively new degree of difficulty – the *fun* solid ice that Wednesday’s Ice Storm left behind. This should only add to our high scores (and not worsen our injuries right?)
Here is Lachie & Eli’s lawn skating…
(note Eli’s added moustache to add to the effect – obviously it a Groucho Marx inspired routine)

A little backyard sledding.
(including a little sled-surfing)

Perhaps this icicle might be useful for javelin?
(check out the size of this thing!)

Another snow day…really?
Another snow day…really? That’s the third this year.
Apparently if we have any more the schools start deducting days from the April Spring break 😦
Here is a pic pre- and mid- road clearing…
(it is amazing how the salt just melts the snow away. No wonder there is a salt shortage this year)
In these ones – mid storm but post the snow plows – check out the icicles forming on the power lines. That can’t be a good thing 😦
We’re feeling pretty fortunate though as there are many without power 😦
The verdict is in….Mother Nature is a football fan
There has been a lot of concern in the media in recent months of the Superbowl being played in the Northeast in an uncovered stadium.
So yesterday was Superbowl Sunday and the weather was a balmy 12 degrees. We went walking & riding in the reserve – sans gloves & beanies – how daring!
Then today we got 8 inches of snow. Seems that Mother Nature is a Superbowl fan 😦
(Nathan, Elimena & Lachlan enjoyed another snow day – yipeeee!)
