South Fork continued: Turtles + Dancing
After quiet time we headed to the beautiful Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays to cheer along the Sea turtle release:
Before a play on the beach…
Dinner at Shuckers Beach Bar…
Before tearing it up on their dance floor…
Before heading back to the hotel to crash 🙂
Exploring Long Island’s South Fork
Today we thought we’d explore the South fork.
First stop was Montauk Point lighthouse….
Brunch in Montauk…
Montauk Harbor…
A drive through the mansions in Amagansett & East Hampton and through Sag Harbor.
(some random shots below: Princess Diner and the ever popular Windmill as decorations?)
With a well deserved ice-cream before heading back for quiet time.
Exploring Long Island’s North Fork
It’s the height of summer so what better reason can we find for a road trip? We were off to the Hamptons.
First stop was the very tip of the North fork of Long Island for lunch at the Blue Canoe, in Greenport NY.
(mmm….lobster roll for mum)
Then a walk around Greenport.
(Eli was lucky enough to keep capturing the rings on the Carousel and winning free rides.)
A look at the ferry Wharf and Lighthouse on the very tip. Where Eli kept herself busy taking photos…
A drive and walk around Orient Beach National Park…
A snack stop at a Lavender Farm…
(not quite sure Eli and Lachie like lavender in their cookies)
We finished the day with a Long Island Ice Tea (for mum & dad only!) in Long Island at Lachie’s favourite restaurant “Ribbie Tuesdays“.
The Girls hit Broadway
Enticing Cookies & Cocktails
The Prep of the very weird looking red and purple choc chip cookies…
(at least we also gave Andrew & Millie Margaritas and Daiquiris to blur their vision of the *enticing* cookies)
Then water play in the garden to cool down…
Wrestle-time…
The peace and calm after the storm went to sleep…
Thanks for coming guys. It was great to see you xx
Are you free next week?
Day 6: Finally!
Day 5: Gorges and Waterfalls and Cornell
After a slow start to the day (and the weather had turned), we had brunch in downtown Ithaca at the Ithaca Ale House (yummo!), a wander around downtown and a quick drive around gorgeous Cornell University.
With a stop to look at Ithaca Falls…
A quieter but another fun day in the stunning Finger Lake region 🙂
Day 4: Finger Lakes, Gorges and Waterfalls
Surrounded by National Parks….where to go?
First stop were the beautiful Taughannock Falls just off Lake Cayuga.
Had lunch at Trumansburg. A walk in the northern end of Robert H. Treman State Park…
before a swim at the lower end…
Back to the hotel in the evening.
We’ve only seen a small piece of the Finger Lake region, but what we’ve seen seen has been stunning!!!
Day 3: a little quieter in Upstate New York
After a late night we had a quiet morning around the hotel (with a swim!). Then we drove south to the Finger Lakes.
Along the way we stopped at Sandy Island Beach State Park. Unfortunately a storm was about to hit and so we just had a quick walk around.
Even Lachie was a little tired today and had a very rare sleep during the day 🙂
The it was off to Hope Lake Lodge at Cortland, our home for the next three nights. Any hotel that has stuffed animals and face painting on the way in can’t be half bad!!!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing around the hotel. Good night 🙂
