Stunning scenic drive: Key West to Miami Beach
After a quick visit to the dead center of town (Key West Cemetery)…
(Check out some of those tomb stones e.g. “I told you I was sick”)
And the mandatory photo stop at the most southerly point of the USA…
(90 miles from Cuba)
We were off to drive the 170m from Key West to Miami Beach.
First stop was the National Key Deer Refuge. This is what we were looking for:
(Photo compliments of Wikipedia)
This is what we saw:
A quick Key Lime Pie stop and then we drove across the stunning Seven Mile Bridge:

A quick stop in at the Turtle hospital in Marathon. Unfortunately their tours were full, but we had a quick squiz at the museum.
Next stop was at Robbies in Islamorada to feed the Tarpon and have an ice-cream.
Before a late lunch in Key Largo at Mrs Mac’s Kitchen, and then hitting the Fruit and Spice Park in Miami.
Check out the lizard that Lachie proudly caught. After a full day of lizard hunting, he had finally managed to catch one 🙂
Then through Coral Gables on the outskirts of Miami…
to the final stop was meant to a swim at the Venetian Pool but unfortunately it was closed on Mondays. It was however a sight to see – even empty.
Then finally a quick swim, before frocking up for dinner.
A day full of stunning views and lizard hunting – fun for all!
