Cheese from a Can?
Happy Australia Day Maplewood Style
It was important to don as many Aussie flags as possible…
Nathan cooked up a storm of party pies, sausage rolls, Aussie-style pizzasย and custard tarts. Yummo – he really outdid himself!
(Bianca wrangled the kids and made mango dacquiris) The cool part was that when we ran out of fridge space for the drinks, we could just put them on the back porch. It was actually colder outside than in the freezer and so why not?
The kids kept themselves entertained…
The girls enjoyed kicking back while the blokes manned the kitchen
Happy Australia Day!
(Yes I know these photos are crappy, but I want to remember the day)
Is there anything to do in Edison?
This Sunday we headed off to Edison NJ for a day of food and action.
First stop was Rebounderez for two hours of non-stop jumping. The plan was to wear the kids out so that we could have a nice relaxing lunch. So we donned their sexy shoes, watched the safety video and we were off and jumping…
For lunch we went to Harolds to share a couple of sandwiches, some milkshakes and a slice of cake. Surprisingly, the food actually tasted really good as well…
On the way home we thought we sould call past the Thomas Edison Memorial, but unfortunately it was undergoing renovations and so there wasn’t much to see.
That is not enough for one day, and so Eli and I caught a play in the evening. We drove to Morristown and Fancy Nancy the Musical. It was quite good but even Eli thought it was short at around an hour. I’m taking that as an encouraging sign that just maybe she could sit through a Broadway production? Since Mum can’t get dad to go, she may now have another option ๐
Pre-Chrissy Chrissy
Because mum and dad wanted us to use our Christmas pressies on the flight to Australia, we gave our pressies early. Any excuse to celebrate right?
Of course that meant we had to have a yummy Christmas lunch, but the gastronomic highlight for Eli was the massive jar of cheese balls (which she managed to put an impressive dent in!). She had been wanting to buy oneย “forever!”
Eli bought very thoughtful pressies for all.
Lachie bought a very thoughtful pressie for Elimena (he gave mum & dad cars and dinosaurs – just what they had always wanted?).
Even Santa stops to admire the Tree
Strolling home from my work Christmas party we saw that even Santa stops to enjoy the Rockefeller Tree…

Baby Jaguar Comes to Stay
This weekend, daycare entrusted us with Baby Jaguar (the mascot from Lachie’s room). The mission was to play withย Baby Jag for the weekend and return him safe and sound to daycare on the Monday morning. We’ve kept two kids alive, healthy and well for this long – how hard can it bee looking after a baby jaguar for a weekend? Famous last words….he had a great time…
He liked to party the old jaguar and unfortunately could out-last us. We took him out with us on the Saturday night and lost him – eek! After much stress and searching, he was found on the saunday night. He was at our friend’s house still partying with the barbies from the Saturday evening. In the meantime we had bought his twin brother off Amazon just in case ๐
Santa Travels by Firetruck
Lonely Mr Elf?
Well now you won’t be lonesomeย Mr Handsome Elf as Eli has made you a friend ๐
(that’s got to get her in good with Santa!)
NY Botanical Garden
The weather forecasters had dubbed today as the last nice day before winter hit and wo we thought we’d take the opportunity and do something outside. So we headed to the Bronxย to theย NY Botanical Garden.
We enjoyed their holiday train show…
Climb trees…
Took a tram ride…
Finally the Children’s adventure playground where we got to decorate gingerbread cookies and explore the holiday spices.
It was a great day ๐
Bugseum
Dad, Eli and Lachie went to the Tom’s River bug museum.
(*Poor* mum had to work. She’s not so sure she wanted to go….eek!)
They had lots of bugs on display and we even got to touch some!
Look Uncle Jus, we even found some of yours ๐
