Post Irene
Fus the damage was not too bad. We had power most of the time and only lost water on the Sunday night. Running water returned on Monday night but it was non-potable. BUT at least we had it. The poor houses at the bottom of the hill (and particularly so inthe next town 2 miles away) weren’t so lucky where it flooded quite badly.
Here are some of our piccies:
Here is a link to one of the local blogs that has some good piccies:

Goven the flooding at the station,I’m not sure there will be a train tomorrow?
Cabin Fever
During Irene
Who’d have thought we’d have a hurricane in Maplewood?
Hurrican Irene came to visit (but petered out to be a tropical storm by the time it hit NYC).
Although the brunt of it was during the night, here are some mid-storm pics…
The calm before the storm
The forecast was for a hurricane? That sure breaks up the usual sun, rain or cloudy.
What to do while dad is cleaning gutters and you are waiting for a hurricane?
…a tea party with Grandma and my animal friends of course!
…watch TV…
but generally just wait.
(We admired the spirit of our local pub who offered free drinks to all Irene’s the night before the storm).
Modern Technology Saves the Nap
After a busy day of sightseeing, we have a half hour train trip home. Luckily dad’s iPhone carries Dora or we might lose it with exhaustion. Or we might have a mini-nap whereas mum and dad would prefer us to have a big nap when we get home. They say that this makes the evenings more fun – but we don’t see why?
There was also an earthquake today. We missed it though as we were sound asleep after some heavy duty sightseeing and showing our Grandparent’s NYC’s dinosaurs.
Love Eli & Lachie xx
Yarrrrrr!
So we decided to show Nanny, Grandma, Grandpa and Grandfarmer how we have fun in New Jersey and so took them to a Medieval Feast.
There was a castle, yummy food, horses, a princess and plenty of knights in armour. What isn’t to like?
We had a great time.
Eli could be heard asking: Why are they fighting. They are being naughty. Let’s see some more pretty princesses.
Lachie on the other hand kept standing on the seat, waving his arms yelling “YAR YAR!!!!”
Full House
They have all arrived safe and well and now we have FOUR Grandparent’s here to spoil us – YAY!
Love Eli & Lachie xx
Hazel May
To our family, we are thinking of you all.
Hazel, we miss you and love you.
Your 97 (almost) years are an inspiration to us all.
Our lives are so much richer for having had you in them.
Thank you for the cuddles, smiles, outings and energy.
We will remember that there is always time and room for that extra piece of cake at the end of any meal/visit/outing!
Rest in peace xx
