You can never have too many trains or animals
Eli @ 4.1 years
I love drawing and colouring and drawing and colouring. I will happily do it for hours on end. And then some…
I can write my name and am extremely interested in copying letters and learning new words.
I have made some really good friends at daycare and am loving it here.
My favourite food is chicken nuggets. I went off them for a while but am right back in there!
I also love milkshakes and shopping which is a great combination 🙂
I am really enjoying playing with dolls and doll houses. Pretend play is so much fun! Paticularly once it is bed time. I will sneak out of bed and play with the doll houses in my room…
Styrofoam fights rock!
Zoo Open Day
Today we went to the Turtle Back Zoo again. The intention was to see the animals. It turned out to be their annual free open day. So the place was full with bands, entertainment and community tables with give-aways.
We didn’t actually see any animals while we were there but we had an absolute ball – dancing to the music, eating free cookies & apples and collecting cool give-aways. Check out our new glasses! Eli’s are like tiger skin and Lachie’s are like giraffe skin…we look cool!
We’ll have to go back again so that we can see the animals!
Love Eli & Lachie xx
Lachie @ 2.3y
So much energy! I love to run. Particularly for the hills or anything far far away… I suddenly become deaf and can’t hear the stop word. I wish I could hear the stop work because the other day I was so busy running towards a fire engine that I ended up chest deep in a mud puddle. Which was only fun for a second.
I love introducing myself to people. My favourite questions are: “what’s your name?”, “what’s your mum’s name?” and “what’s your dad’s name?”. I always answer the question with “Lachlan Wallace”.
I am really into superheros, trains and animals. I love playing with them.
I also enjoy bikes and ball games and anything active really 🙂
My favourite foods are pizza and provolone.
I can be a little bit naughty but always with a big smile!

Maplewood Memorial Day
Today is Memorial Day and Maplewood is celebrating it in style. Memorial Day we found out is just like ANZAC day without the dawn service. The parade started at 9am rather than dawn which is a little more managable even though Lachie does his best everyday to let us know when we hit dawn. We have had a great day taking part in the events.
We had heard there was an impressive line-up and so we found a comfortable viewing spot:
The day kicked off with a parade that included a Bat Mobile, a giant flag, 911 vehicles, marching bands, defence force personnel, local schools, blatant advertising, the hats-off-library-ladies,karate clubs, scouts, brownies & more:
Which ended with a speech and some beatiful singing at the local municipal building:
Afterwards we got a closer look at the firetrucks. Our favourite was number 32 as it had figurines of Sponge Bob and Mr. Incredible on the front.
Then after stopping to say hi to the mascot, we watched the rubber duckie race:

(We borrowed the first three piccies below from Maplewood Online & Maplewood Patch Blogs on the Duck Race. Now that we know how it works, next year we’ll pick a better viewing possie!)
Before having a very messy icecream and heading home. It was a great day 🙂
Midtown NYC
Today we took a train trip into Midtown NYC.
We loved all the flags in the streets, the random statues that we came accross and the lights around Times Square:
Lachie love the taxis and police cars:
Dad loved the Apple Store:
Mum’s favourite part were the windows at Tiffany’s. Alhough this photo is *a little* fuzzy, the note next to the keys and massive diamond reads: “Come and go as you please but stay with me always.” Mum was inspired to go in and shop but unfortunately we were a little too early.
Personally I preferred the ostrich in the Louis Vuitton window (but I’ll settle for Tiffany’s):
The veiws out the windows at mum’s office were pretty schmick too:
Love Elimena xx
Elimena’s first masterpiece
Elimena worked out how to draw faces a few weeks ago. That picture then became a masterpiece that she worked on for 3 days both at home and day care. She explains every item and area in detail, including some small contributions from her friends.
She is now completely absorbed in drawing and writing – to the point where she needs to be actively encouraged into other activities at day care. Every day we get exciting new creations to view, with increasing levels of fine control and detail.
Mum and Dad are very proud 🙂
Kaeser Family
We our first visitors this weekend – Chris, Courtney, Henry & June 🙂 It was great fun!
We spent lots of time playing in the basement:
We made Chris a birthday cake. Eli just knew he wanted a strawberry one with pink sprinkles on top!
Bathtime is aways fun and then we slept like Champions leaving the adults lots of time for dinner, a glass of wine and catching up.
On the Sunday we wandered through Maplewood’s Mayfest but we had so muh fun that there was no time for photos.
It was a great weekend 🙂
