Philadelphia Flower Show

March 12, 2011
by

What better way to spend a Saturday than on a road trip? Today we headed south to Philadelphia for the Annual Flower Show. This sounded like a fun indoor activity (Read: fun, indoor and so hopefully warm activity!). The theme this year was “Springtime in Paris” and it was pretty magical:

We took this one for Cousin Shay to remind her of her Parisian Days…

And this one to show you how well I can accessorise. Look at how well my beautiful headband went with the theme…

While there we attempted to do some touristy things like the Liberty Bell and dined on a Philly Cheesesteak at Johnny Rockets.

All-in-all, it was a great tempter visit of Philadelphia. We can’t wait to come back for a more thorough touristy experience!

Names for mum

Mum is a bit confused as to why “mum” is not “mum” anymore?
I kind of would understand it being “mom” with the move to America and all…

Lachie and Eli have both come up with their own versions of mum.
Lachie likes to use “Bianca Mummy” and Eli likes to use “Mama”.
Signs of endearment perhaps?

Poor dad though has become “Bull Dog”….

Has a cheeky smile and a heart of gold 🙂

* Favourite foods  – Goldfish. This are American biccies shaped as baby gold fishies.
* Loves skirts and dresses and anything frilly.  Is a master layer-er and will often be found in a tiara with a dress over whatever outfit mum and dad are making her wear.
* Really doesn’t like wearing long pants which she is finding a challenge in the cold New Jersey weather.
* Occasionally introduces herself as Princess Elimena and would love to live at the top of a high tall tower.
* Is really enjoying pretend play and can be very imaginative at times. Quite enjoys space and independent play – which can be hard to create with a two year old brother always on your heels. Eli is very good and patient at involving in these games.
* Particularly loves playing with fairies, barbies and dolls.
* Is getting very good with her letters and maths.
* She loves calling people “Bull Dog”.  As a sign of affection….?

Henry & June

Today we headed into Queens to catch up with some friends of mum & dad’s, who had very kindly invited us over for a yummy brunch 🙂  We’ve been hearing about them for ages and finally, we got to meet their kids – Henry and June.

But they couldn’t get rid of us that easily – they had an amazing place that was full of all things cool – toys, trains, DVDs and Pizza! Plus mum & dad had so much catching up to do.

In no time at all it was like playing with old friends 🙂

I know where Superman lives!

Today we took a road trip down to Princeton. We had a great time viewing stunning Victorian style buildings, eating cupcakes and we had a run in with Superman and his friends. As we left the public library I saw a bunch of funkily dressed cyclists in spandex hero-wear with cool helmets. I didn’t want mum, dad & Eli to miss them (as I know how fast Super-heroes move) and so I speedily yelled “Look – There is superman!”

My little champions – adaptable and flexible!

It has been a pretty busy week and Lachie and Eli have taken it in their stride…

Thursday night -was the last night in the Garden house – surrounded by boxes.
Friday & Saturday nights – were at a hotel with Nanny in Chatswood.
Sunday night – was at Grandma and Grandpa Wallace’s house.
Monday night #1 – was on the plane.
Monday night #2 – was in a last-minute hotel in Bridgewater as the relocation people has accidentally organised our temporary short-term accomodation for the 28th April.
Tuesday night – was in our new abode (a furnished apartment) for six weeks or so until we settle on our new house. (They started off in a double bed and have changed to two single beds today.)

Not to mention the varied sleeping arrangements. When we left home Lachie was in a small low converted-cot bed and Eli in a separate room in her own bed. Throughout the course of the week Lachie had shared a room with Eli both in single beds, slept on a mattress in a room of four, slept on a semi-lit flight, shared a double bed in a room of four, slept in a double bed in a room with Eli and is now sleeping in a single bed in a room with Eli.

My little champions took it in their stride with few complaints and lots of requests for cuddles. Mum & Dad are so proud of them!

American Diner

Today for lunch we went to an all-american diner. It was just like the movies! There were re-fillable coffee and soft-drink cups. Cheery smiley waitresses and massive massive meals. It was great fun.

Lachie used his Wallace charm and charmed all of the waitresses. So they were offering us desserts and lollipops – it was great!

There are so many cool things to see:
* ambulances, fire trucks, police cars and massive american utes whizzing around the place
* yellow american school busses full of kids having fun
* planes flying overhead leaving cool white trails in the cold New Jersey air (brrrr….it’s cold)

….and at the end of the day it’s time for a little couch time with Eli,

Busy Busy Busy – what can I say…

* He is a great mimic.
* He still loves his bottles of milk and has a big lunchtime sleep.
* He has excellent pleases and thank yous and gives great cuddles.

Lachie’s 2nd Birthday

The day started off well…..

The day was busy, busy busy with a drive past of daddy’s work and our new house, followed by pizza for lunch (my second favourite!) and a snooze.

The day then finished with a ride on my new scooter followed by my favourite dinner (spag bol), cake and another snooze.
