Jetlag?
Lachie and I are loving America. Last night he and I were up from 11pm to 2am party-ing. We were having a great time 🙂 Mum and dad on the other hand weren’t so excited…

First Impressions: Red, White and Blue
Welcome to New Jersey! One of my first impressions of New Jersey is that of strong local patriotism. It’s not even the fourth of July and yet the flag is proudly on display outside businesses, houses, on bridges, murals…its everywhere  🙂
It would be hard to be in New Jersey and not know what the American flag looks like. Disappointingly, I think there would be quite a few Aussies who don’t know what the Australian flag looks like.
When we get setup in our house, I’m inspired to fly an American and an Aussie flag out the front. Or at least on little toothpicks on our food!
I’m looking forward to our first American Independance Day!
Oh! What a night!
So it all started with a taxi to the airport…
Then we had to check out the cockpit to make sure the captain knew what he was doing and didn’t need my help.
We made it.
Then it was time to settle in for a movie:
(they had Tangled and Monsters Inc. We were set!)
and dinner:
(we had chicken nuggets on both flights!)
and then big sleep time:
Then came breakky before stopping in to LA airport to ask for directions.
Then there was a second flight and then here we are in a skycar on the way to pick up our rental car:
It was quite a journey. Do you think we had too much stuff?
Christmas holidays 2010
There aren’t many photos, but boy did we have fun over the Christmas holidays this year!
- Dec 24-29: Holiday with Dickson clan at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
- Dec 30: Early morning swim at Newport beach and lunch at Belrose Hotel.
- Dec 31: Koala Park (where Elimena met a sheep) and then NYE with Nate & Elena at Mosman to see the fireworks.
- Jan 1: Walked up to Willoughby Park to play. (We got all stripped off for the sprinklers, but unfortunately they stopped the second we got wet!)
- Jan 2: Family Funday Sunday with a bus to the city, ferry loop to Kirribilli, play at park and then train to Chatswood.
- Jan 3: Baby Sebastian’s christening.
- Jan 4: Day of rest.
- Jan 5: Early morning trip to the Sydney Flower Market and then a picnic with the Fraser clan.
- Jan 6: Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre with the big bucket!
- Jan 7: A crazy bushwalk in the pouring rain (we actually got stuck for 15 mins due to a flash flood), then we saw Tangled at the cinema.
- Jan8: Bus ride to Paddington Markets.
Typical daycare conversations
Mum: Hi Eli, how was daycare today?
Eli: Good.
Mum: What did you do today?
Eli: I played in the forest.
Mum: What did you do in the forest.
Eli: I was a fairy princess up the tower.
Mum:Â Who did you play with?
Eli: Tommy and Daniel. Tommy was a Giraffe and Daniel was the scary Prince.
Boing Boing Boing :)
Today I slept on a camp bed at daycare. That means I am officially a kangaroo now. I have been doing all the Kangaroo activities but was still sleeping in the cot room like the joeys. I had to prove I could do it otherwise I wouldn’t get to go up to the Toddler Room in January. I slept for an hour and a half. I can do it when I want too….
What a party!
Our house around 6:30am
I love playing with Elimena. Check out this video of us playing before daycare one morning. We have lots of fun together!
Elimena @ 3.6y
- I love ballet and swimming and running.
- I love wearing all things frilly and sparkly – particularly dresses.
- I’m not really into dinnertime at the moment…but will taste everything on my plate so that I get to watch TV. In terms of TV my favourites at the moment are Angelina Ballerina and Diego.
- A party is really a party when it has lolly bags and balloons.
- I most like having my hair up in plaits… I still prefer to wear it down but if it has to be up – let’s go with plaits or a pony tail.
- My favourite food is chicken nuggets. Why are these only “sometimes” food? I am sure they should be “everyday” food?
- At daycare I still love running around at full speed with Tommy and Daniel.
- I am very curious and ask lots and lots and lots of questions.
The elusive corner teeth
I have the eight front teeth and the four double teeth. I am just missing the corner teeth.
For months it seems like they are coming through. I have had rashes on my cheeks, the gums have been red, I’ve been dribbling….with no success.
For the last two weeks there have been but two layers of cells between the top two corner teeth and the air.
Mum & dad have been hanging out in the hope that when they come through I’ll feel a bit better. Daily they have been gamely sticking their fingers in to see if they have finally broken through. It’s been so tempting to bite them….but I’ve been very good.
We’ve had a few false starts – as you have literally been able to see the teeth through the gum.
Then today finally mum could feel something sharp on one side – Eureka! One corner tooth down – three to go!
My bout of ear infections, runny noses and weepy eyes has continued and so mum & dad are hoping that when the last three teeth come through and the weather gets warmer over summer – that I might be able to break the cycle. Fingers crossed.
