…swimming lessons!!!! Isn’t it? Well that’s what we do…

I am doing really well in my swimming class. We go to Lane Cove Aquatic Centre where they have a purpose built arm-pit height pool.

We do lots of big kid skills – like kicking, paddling and back floating.
We also play lots of fun games like ring-a-ring-a-rosie, finding the toys that sink to the bottom of the pool and chasing after the toys that float on top of the water.

I also get to wear really cool goggles. Its so much fun!

The Explorer

I’ve made it to 11 months and I can do just about anything
* I can say mum, dad and try very hard to say Eli. I love trying my best to repeat sounds after you. Particularly if you shower me with praise.
* I have six teeth – four up top and two down low.
* I like to crawl – EVERYWHERE! I am a very keen climber too.
* I do recognise my name and I do know what is naughty (gets attention) and what doesn’t…
* I’m sleeping like a champion. I still like at least two good naps a day (or three little naps).
* I’m pretty easy with food, but I particularly love meat and yoghurt.
* I am still given 3 bottles of milk a day but I’m not that fussed by them. I can drink them if I want to. What I do love though is the straw-sippy-cup. There is nothing more fun than the drink-and-spit.
* I like to pull to standing on things and then push off – only to land in a heap. I’m dead keen on walking and have lots of confidence.
* I find lots to launch and smile about and love showing mum with kisses and cuddles. I am pretty sure that a smile will get me anything!
* I love bopping and singing to music. I can make up words with the best of them 🙂
* I really love the remote control and will crawl / climb with focussed intensity when trying to get it. Don’t get in my way!

The Drink and Spit

I am a big fan of the drink and spit. Particularly on hot days or when I have my nice clothes on.

What you do, is suck on the straw of your sippy-cup and get a big mouthful of liquid. Then when the time is right, you spurt it everywhere. If it is a hot day you can drizzle it all over yourself. If you are trying to get Eli’s attention, you can aim it at her. If you don’t like the clothes you are wearing – hey presto! If you don’t like the clothes mum is wearing…as you can see it is quite useful.

But the big trick is, to look around proudly afterwards with a big toothy grin. This will make all the adults smile and stop you from getting in trouble.

Wiggles Concert

As one of our adventure Fridays, in December mum and I went to a Wiggles concert.

Unfortunately it turned out their was a bus strike the day of the concert, which threw a little spanner in the works…..but once we got there, it was COOL!

It has all the elements of a GREAT concert:

  • We had perfect seats – first level up – two rows back (with no-one sitting n front of us!). We were at eye level with the stage.
  • There were bright lights, loud music and screaming fans everywhere.
  • The Wiggles sang and danced and performed their rockin’ songs with the energy of a toddler.
  • There was a mosh pit of big kids (5+ year olds) at the front. Actually I think there were a few mums in there too?
  • They turned the lights off at one point and everyone started swaying their glow sticks / mobiles in the air to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Mum & I shared a massive tub of popcorn. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs as the spill to eat ratio was 10 to one.

All in all it was an hour and a half of non-stop fun! Although it took me a little while to warm up to the scene (I was a little overwhelmed at first), I had an absolute ball.

To top it off mum bought me a Dorothy-the-Dinosaur tail (and Lachie a plush guitar) on the way out.

What an amazing adventure!

As part of the preparation for mum’s to return to work, Lachie went to PlayCare one day a week in the lead up to Chrissy. This was fantastic because it meant mum and I could have a fun-filled one-on-one day every week.
We made the most of the opportunity and did some really cool stuff. We went to the zoo twice, to Homebush Acquatic Centre (and played in the water park), to the movies, to see Santa in the city, to a Wiggles concert, we got a pedicure…loads of things! It was busy-busy-busy fun-fun-fun!
Photos to come, but we had a great time 🙂

Steak here I come!

On Monday…I had two teeth in the middle down the bottom. Plus four menacing ones up the top – ever so close to cutting through – but not quite.

On Tuesday…I cut a new tooth – the one next to the middle on the top right. So I had three teeth to show and three yet to peep through.

On Wednesday…I cut another new tooth. The top left middle one. So now the count is four to see (if you look very closely!) plus two menacing teeth just below the surface.

On Thursday…another tooth cut through to join the team. It was the top left one next to the middle left one. So five to show and one is still hiding.

On Friday…will the last one finally come through?

DIVE DIVE DIVE….

I love playing with Eli but have found that I have trouble keeping up with her. So I’ve solved the problem… Often the best way to get her attention is to crash-tackle her. If she walks past, if you are in the bath together, whatever – you just DIVE onto her and then hold on for dear life. Then you too can do what ever fun thing she is doing 🙂

* I often refer to myself in the third person and usually as Elimena and not Eli.
* I am into pretend play. At the moment I particularly like making meals for you in the oven Grandpa made me.
* I am cuddly and snuggly and love having books read to me.
* At PlayCare I love the bikes and the sandpit. I have almost smuggled an entire sandpit home in my shoes!
* I am into beads, high-heels and hand-bags.
* I love BBQ chicken, meat of any kind really and fruit.
* I still have one good sleep a day and a big big one at night (12 hours).
…and when I’m not sleeping – I am busy, busy, busy…..

The best way to follow your sister around the house

Crawling is still a challenge, but who needs it when you can it in the back of your big sisters bike? All I want to do is follow her around anyway!
