Symphony + Soul
This afternoon we went on an excursion to Red Bank.
Eli and Lachie prepped themselves for the evening…
(the is a role-reversal to the norm – usually it is Eli that is asleep and Lachie on his device)
Our first stop was to the Count Basie theatre to listen to the NJ Symphony Orchestra for the “no shush” performance of the Land of Make Believe. Which was awesome as it meant Lachie could get up and dance! They played lots of classics that we all knew including music from Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet, Nutcracker, Harry Potter, West Side Story…the hour passed in an instant.
Afterwards we went to a Community restaurant called the Soul Kitchen that is run by Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Foundation as a non-profit. It was a great opportunity to discuss how important it is to be part of and give back to the community and still have a yummy meal.
It was a fun little excursion 🙂
Queen of the Green Belt
Eli gets her Green Belt
Story by Elimena
I have been practicing karate for for a year. The time has finally come for me to get my green belt. Afterall I thought I was doing pretty good. I didn’t get to chop a board like last time like I hoped, but at least I got the belt. I had to work hard and sensei had to say I could graduate from yellow with black stripe belt. And one more thing, here is a piece of advice, you have to keep balance with defense and fighting, just like water and sun to a plant. You have to make the balance continue together. SO that when you try and balance in your step, act like it. That is all the advice that I have for you. If you want to learn more, you’ll have to start karate. Hoi-Yaaaaaaa!
[Mum’s note: So proud…Eli-bear graduated to her green belt today. All four of us are very proud!]
Aligning the impossible!
Today mum aligned the impossible.
She got to join Lachie’s class to celebrate his birthday and read a story….
(I wish that I had duck feet). A huge thank you to Mrs Sinclair!
She got to join Eli’s class for star of the week snack and read a story…
(The book with no pictures). A huge thank you to Mrs Amato!
She & dad attended two parent teacher interviews and heard glowing reviews!
For half a day off work, and last minute co-ordination – she is pretty happy with the result.
Eli’s the Star of the week!
Eli is the star of the week in her class this week. As part of that the class get to find out all about Elimena by Elimena! Here are her answers to the questionnaire….

Lachie’s 100th day of school
Swan Lake
Today we braved the cold (it was the same temperature as Friday), to go to Swan Lake performed by the State Ballet theatre of Russia.
Even our el-cheapo nose-bleed seats couldn’t detract from the immense talent of the Russian ballerinas. It was magical! Made even better that Eli’s good friend Penelope could come along 🙂
Hooooowl!
Should we be proud?
Today there was a delayed opening for school due to the roads being icy.
Post doing his morning tasks, Lachie decided to multitask devices and so maximise the bit of extra time on his hands..
Should we be proud at his new found skill?

Meanwhile mum was at the train station watching the sun rise which was particularly pretty that day 🙂
