Scarves and Dollies
@ 19 months…
what? you are looking for your monthly update?
I’m way too busy to post…
I’ve got sooo many things to do!
The Big Sandpit
This morning we spent time at The Big Sandpit in Wentworth Common at Sydney Olympic Park. Dad and I got covered in sand while building a castle, but the most fun were the little waterfall machines.
Unfortunately I wasn’t quite strong enough to push the button, but Dad was very helpful responding to my requests of “More! More!” for about 30 minutes. It was a huge morning of park play, but we recovered with a massive lunchtime sleep :).
A day in the big city
On Sunday Dad and I ventured into the city – it was great!
We got the train in, which was quite a trip down memory lane for me. We had heaps of fun checking out the doors each time they opened and playing peek-a-boo through the metal bars in the vestibule area.
I was waving goodbye to the train guard when she asked if we’d come into the city for the parade? Parade … Cool! She was even nice enough (from our perspective anyway) to hold up the whole train while she ripped out the instructions from the paper for us.
The parade wasn’t actually meant to start until 11:30am, but they were already inflating all the floats so we got to get up close and even help hold the ropes. My favourites were the leprecaun and the panda.
Other than that, we spent some time down near Circular Quay. I particularly enjoyed the Museum of Contempory Art. I would run up the ramp and then walk (without help) down the steps. There were a couple of tumbles, including one spectacular capsize landing on the top of my head, but I just kept practicing.
Emerging from a “spot” of bother…
Things have been a bit hectic around our house during the last couple of months. Let me summarise:
- Oct 2-17: Dad overseas, Girls party at home!
- Oct 24-Nov 4: Dad sick with Shingles, Girls on nursing duty.
- Nov 5: Hot water system breaks – brrrr!.
- Nov 7-13: Eli sick with Chicken Pox (despite being forced to have the vaccine when Dad got sick).
- Nov 9: Great Grandma Pat passes away :(.
- Nov 3-15: Mum studying for FRM exams, Dad & I out of the house whenever possible.
- Nov 16: Dad’s postherpetic neuralgia & constant use of pain killers finally subsides.
With all that going on, I felt I should do everything possible to keep life fun around the house. Pulling dramatic faces always gets a smile…
Mutual grooming enforces bonds between people, so lucky my hair has grown long enough to enable continued experimentation with new styles.
Mum and Dad laughed a lot when I tried putting a saddle on my bike…
But it was even more fun when Dolly (my new best friend) and I took turns at riding in the trailer.
With Spring in full swing, I discovered the backyard is a great place to unwind and let off some steam. I particularly enjoy rolling down the hill with Dad or running circles around the clothesline while singing “ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhh”.
We’re ready for summer!
Happy birthday-and-a-half to me!
18 months – a mischievous pink bundle of fun!
- I can climb anything.
- I have no fear. I will happily hang off the rail of the biggest slippery dip you can find or climb any ladder.
- I love going to parks. Especially parks that have puppies in them!
- I love The Wiggles and Dora the Explorer. I love dancing to The Wiggles and I love singing along to power ballads in the car. I also love spotting trucks and buses from the car.
- I am starting to test the waters on boundaries.
- I can put myself in the naughty corner when I know I am being naughty (mum’s edit: cheeky).
- I’m tired of trying to use words and so am back to Eli-speak.
- I can eat pretty much anything and have one big sleep in the middle of the day (2-3 hours).
- I have almost grown a pony-tail at the back.
- I am lots of fun!
Bub-Bubs
At playcare we have been learning about bub-bubs. They have lots of toy bub-bubs, toy strollers and toy cots for us to play with. We’ve been having lots of fun!
Over the Labour Day long weekend, mum and I went to see three bub-bubs. We have a few friends with very new bub-bubs that we’ve been dying to catch up with so the long weekend seemed like a good opportunity.
We went to see Annelies (Notelaers). She’s very cute (see photos below of me patting her). It was so exciting when she finally woke up that I starting jumping up and down.
We also went to see Molly and Oscar (Symons). They too did lots of sleeping. They are soooo lucky as they have puppies AND a trampoline. Unfortunately there was so much to do I forgot to take piccies to mark the occasion.
Mum was so proud of how gentle I was with the bub-bubs. But come-on! Who is going to get on the wrong side of someone with puppies and a trampoline?
@ 17 months
I’m a climber. I can push things over next to the couch and climb up on them to get up. So now nothing in the house is safe! Mum will often come in and find me standing on the table…she doesn’t seem to understand that this is the best place to dance?- Mum can give me one pigtail on top…which is a bit ’80s but I put up with it to keep her happy! (see piccie left)
- I have weeks where I am a hungry hippo and other times when I’m not so into food. When I am hungry I will pretty much eat anything.
- I love animals. I particularly love birds and Charlie the golden-retriever next door. Mum and I have been having fun making the noises to go along with each animal in the 100 animals book that dad gave me before he went overseas.
- I love that while lying in bed in the morning that I can hear birds out the window. They sure have a lot to say because they are chattering at a hundred miles an hour.
- I become a better helper every day 🙂 I like to bring mum her shoes when I think it is time we went outside 🙂
- I’ve got loads of new words and my favourite sound is “b”. Can’t every word have a “b” on the front?
Crazy Hair Daze
P.S. Mum is still not sure what colour eyes I (am going to) have…so they must be blue/green/grey/hazel like dads!
Finally I have proof!
Mum was the celebrant at the wedding.
Dad was the MC at the reception.
Does that mean I live in a family of directors? dictators? or control freaks?
Finally I have proof of the hard life I live and just maybe I might get some sympathy???
