Tummy time
Although my growing bald spot is evidence to the contrary, I’m getting used to spending small amounts of tummy time.
Sharing a bottle with Grandma
With the latest Harry Potter movie out this week, mum and dad are well into their preparations:
- Learn how to express milk.
- Decide that hand-pumping is ridiculous, and quickly purchase an electric pump.
- Give Elimena the bottle for a couple of early morning feeds (she’d eat just about anything after a long sleep).
- Hit up Sydney-side grandparents for babysitting.
- Do a practice run with non-parental day-time bottle feeding.
Unfortunately, as with many major projects, there remains some risk however as Elimena has a new cousin due any day now which could quickly unravel the best laid plans…
P.S. I’m two months old today – I’m really growing up! Surely I’m old enough for this Harry Potter movie?
It’s time to go… Elimena Margaret!
When it came to eviction time, I didn’t want to come out. I was well overdue, lying in the wrong position and way too comfortable in mum’s tum to even think about leaving.
But, no-one listened to me. It was decided that it was time for me to join the big kids world. Dr Anne MacGibbon (our obstetrician) stepped in and got me out safely and healthily, while taking great care of both mum and me.
A little while ago, Mum and I had our six week check up with our Anne. She gave us the double thumbs up! Dad took the piccie (above) to mark the occasion.
Thanks and big kisses to Anne for doing a fabulous job in looking after mum and me.
I’ve been working hard!
It is not all fun and games when you are 8 weeks old!
I had my 8 week checkup yesterday and today I have my two-month-old immunisations – Triple Antigen (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough) Polio and Hep B.
Soooooo not looking forward to those….
So what do I have to show for 8 weeks?
* an extra 4cm in length
* my head has grown 3cm
* and an extra kilo in weight
I’ve been working hard!
If I keep this up, by the time I am 18 I will be around 122 kilos heavy, 5 metres tall and have a whopping huge head!

Pop Quiz
Question: How long does a family size block of chocolate last in a house with a 7-week-old?
Answer: less than 48 hours. The little 7-week-old one has a huge sweet tooth 🙂
Wacky Wednesdays…..

Was there something in the air last Wednesday??? I’m still trying to work it out…..
Everything changed.
Let’s start with the morning feed. This time it came from a bottle! Mum and Dad have decided to start giving me the occasional feed of expressed milk from a bottle to give them a bit of flexibility. Maybe that should read – The new Harry Potter movie is about to come out and mum & dad want to ditch me with someone so that they can go!!!! We’ll be having words about that….
Then mum whipped me into this blue harness thing (baby bjorn) and off we went to mother’s group. Usually she takes me in my Bed-On-Wheels (stroller), but this new method was okay. At least it meant I got cuddles for hours!
While we were out and about mum took me out for lunch and then shopping. Fabulous…I loved it! I got two new pairs of pants and some new bunny-shaped shoes. Mum was worried about my feet getting cold hanging out of the baby bjorn but you don’t need an excuse to buy shoes I say! Check them out in the piccie….they’re pretty cool 🙂
Another late night up blogging….
Lose 10 days now … Ask me how!
While one day can blur into the next when there is a newborn in the house, we were shocked on receiving Elimena’s birth certificate that what felt like weeks had only been a few days.
Who knows … If Bianca’s eagle eye hadn’t noticed that BDM had made a data entry mistake on the birth certificate, it may have taken years of incorrect passports and documentation before we realised that Elimena really was born on May 9th, not May 19th.
Almost smiling
Excitement, speculation and competition for attention are rife this week as I build up towards my first smile. So far, we’ve only had windy, fleeting and lop sided false alarms.
Unfortunately for Dad, Mum definitely has the home court advantage.
