Day 2 of school
First day of School
Mandatory first day photos…
Ready to go…
Eli was excited to find Sammy her bestie who was also in her class…
Lachie found Scarlett…
Then they were off 😦 or is it 🙂
Then there was a debrief over an ice-cream over the local ice-cream parlour…yummm! Luckily the ice-creams were HUGE as we had lots of news to catch up on 🙂
The verdict….the year is off to a great start!
Summer ‘tude
‘ello Govna
Today we thought we’d check out Governor’s Island, off the tip of Manhattan.
So we drove into lower Manhattan and got the ferry across from Battery Park. Governor’s Island was just a few minutes away by ferry and a kids paradise. After being devastated by Hurricane Sandy, it has been completely remodeled – it is now filled with a military base and green spaces.
It is full of historic monuments & buildings…
…interesting sculptures…
…Fort Jay…
… numerous fun playgrounds dispersed around the island…
Plus the food trucks come over on the weekends to feed the hungry crowds – yummo!
There is even a quiet grove with hammocks spotted around it for recovery time.
(to keep the peace – only one person per hammock)
Not to mention the awesome views back to Manhattan and of the big lady.
A final stop at Castle Williams
(by then some of our feet were a little sore)
It was a fun little excursion!
Crazy Hair Day
Last day of camp is crazy hair day….crazy enough for you?
(style inspired by Orange is the new Black)
The star of Anansi
Today we received the letters from Tuscan our local Elementary school, informing the Eli and Lachie who their teachers would be for the incoming school year…we had our fingers crossed that they would get good teachers and have some of their friends in their classes.
Tonight we saw the performance of Eli’s drama camp. She (of course!) was the star of the show Anansi:
Lachie opened his letter whilst waiting for the show to start as we were sitting next to Amsterdam who was also in his class. I’m not sure if that is a look of surprise, fear or happiness?
Eli opened hers during dinner and she was very excited to hear Sammy one of her besties was also in the class.
Then there was the mandatory celebratory dinner afterwards of Roman Gourmet pizza and Ice-cream…it doesn’t get any better at 7 and 5!
US Open Kids Day
What’s missing?
A touch of English Coutryside
To make the most of my only weekend in London, I thought I’d do a tour with the white-haired brigade and get out and see the countryside.
Windsor Castle
Bath
Including the old spring-fed Roman baths in Bath
Medieval Village of Lacock
(who incidentally had a military exhibition on at the same time. You make recognize this town from the Harry Potter movies? Or you may not)
Stonehenge
An action-packed very interesting day!
I won the lottery!
In August I spent two weeks in London for work. Here are some piccies from my trip:
The highlights today included a lovely dinner with Julianne and winning the lottery! All in the same day.
On the Saturday I went for a sight-seeing walk around town and happened upon the Prince of Wales Theatre at the time the lottery was being run. For each Book of Mormon performance, two and a half hours before each performance you can put your name in a barrel. Two hours before the performance they pull out 21 names and sell 21 tickets front row tickets for 20 pounds! So I thought why not. This show is sold out months ahead in NYC and is meant to be fantastic……and I won! Front row for 20 quid!!! It was fantastic too!
